Covering and Authority - New Site

I'm just finding lots of new sites to link to this week. Here is another one I just found.

It is called Covering and Authority and is the best site I have found yet that discusses the harmful practice/theology of being under 'Covering' or Authority.

For those of you who are not familiar, covering is a doctrine taught that says you have to be under a spiritual covering (of a church or leader) to be kept out of harm of the devil and bad things happening in your life. It espouses that all Christians need to be under authority to have anything good happen in their life or ministry.

I have written about the effects of it in my life throughout this blog. You can read some of them
here, here, here, and here if you are interested in the personal side to this doctrine.

Anyway, check the site out and link it where it is appropriate.

We've also questioned and walked out of the 'covering' theology. My mom (my dad died in June) is in a really hard place of not wanting to do anything without her 'covering,' but now that my dad is gone, she wants my husband to 'cover' her. I've tried talking with her about this, but it is so entrenched. Perhaps I can direct here to the site you mentioned and she can research it herself.

Thanks!

Our family left a controlling church over a year ago and finally started blogging about it: http://theautonomyofthebeliever.blogspot.com

At our old church, the topics of Spiritual Fathers and Offence covered the Covering doctrine for us without using that word.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It's not something that many people can relate to, so it's good hear from others who have been through it.

Hi,
I am brand new to this site. My search on church covering has led me to your page. I have also found the site you recommend and have it bookmarked. I found it to be incredibly useful. I am new to church covering doctrine, hence my search.

As a result of my search I have also started a blog. I would like to share my story with you and would love to know your thoughts.

The link to my story thus far is attached to my name. Please let me know what you think.

I have truly enjoyed your blogs and plan to continue reading so long as you continue writing. Much love in Christ to you and yours.
